Her style: "Classic, tomboyish, graphic and slightly punk."

Her inspiration: "I have four brothers, so I've always been a total tomboy. My older brother really influenced my fashion sense. He had a New Romantic thing going on, which in Iowa was very forward-thinking. When he joined the Navy, he left all of his clothes behind; I would try them on and wear them to school. The standouts were a two-tone gray-and-white button-down and a pair of Bugle Boy snap pants. I thought he was sooo cool."

Favorite local stores: "Salvation Army, Trash and Vaudeville, Fluke, Big D Stores and Wolford—though I can only afford the tights!"

Favorite local designer: "Zero + Maria Cornejo (zeromariacornejo.com). I feel breathless whenever I look at her clothes. I love the minimalist feel, the fabrics and the colors. I wish I could afford them."

Item she can't live without: "My black suede pull-on ankle boots from Trash and Vaudeville. They make everything look cool."

The greatest dresser of all time: "David Bowie! He always looks like a creature from another planet."
