David Klasfeld of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (occmakeup.com)

Who he is: A makeup artist for 15 years, Klasfeld created OCC in June 2004 by hand-making just two lip balms in his East Village abode. He was trying to fill a niche with makeup that both is vegan (the items are formulated from nonanimal derivatives like hemp and peppermint oils, coconut water and acai berry extracts) and looks flawless on people appearing on high-definition television.

About the line: Rock stars and trendsetters alike have taken to his theatrical collection, which includes 36 eye shadows ($12 each), 36 lipglosses ($13 each), 28 nail colors ($8 each), 12 tinted moisturizers ($25 each) and 11 brushes ($18--$28 each). OCC is like the MAC (Klasfeld actually did training and development for the megabrand) of vegan makeup brands: Its latest batch of highly pigmented hues—including seriously saturated teals, neon oranges and pixilated metallics—are inspired by bleeding colors seen in 1980s late-night-TV shows. A standout of the collection are the popular lip tars that glide on like glosses but finish like matte lipsticks ($13).

Buy it here: Michael Angelo's Wonderland Beauty Parlor (418 W 13th St between Ninth Ave and Washington St; 212-524-2800). Or use code "TONY" when shopping online at occmakeup.com to receive 20 percent off all purchases through July 23.
