Gym-floor tape and gun-range targets are not the usual stationery fodder, but they’re just two of the things that inspire the letterpress cards made by Sarah Coffman, 33, a freelance graphic designer and artist living in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. “It’s always so much better when you use an object for something other than its intended purpose,” says Coffman, who launched her custom printing business in October. All of her designs (taken from castaway objects like Met grocery store flyers) are backed with recycled chipboard from a nearby comic book store, but you can supply your own paper—or whatever. “I will try to print on anything,” she says.—Jonathan Bender
