Once a year, comic-book lovers can rejoice as the shops they support come together in celebration of the comic-book art by giving tons away for free! All your favorite superhero books, graphic novels and indie comics can be found somewhere in the city, and this Saturday, you can grab a few without even paying. Here are five shops that'll keep you stocked up on some potential new favorites!

Bergen Street Comics
470 Bergen St between Flatbush and Fifth Aves, Park Slope, Brooklyn
The BSC website assures us all that they have "stockpiled approximately 60 million comics to give away," so you don't have to worry about missing out. At 7pm, Luke Pearson, author of the popular Hilda graphic-novel series, will be there to debut his new book, Hilda and the Black Hound.

Jim Hanley's Universe
4 W 33rd St between Fifth and Sixth Aves; 299B New Dorp Ln between Clawson and Edison Sts, Staten Island
Customers can pick up to four comics from a wide selection of choices at either of JHU's locations. Dan Slott, current writer on The Amazing Spider-Man, will be doing signings at its Manhattan location, while at its Staten Island branch, there will be a buy-two-get-one-free deal on all graphic novels.

Forbidden Planet
832 Broadway between 12th and 13th Sts
People will be lining up long before they open at 9am, so get there early to receive a gift bag full of great comic books. If you feel like you didn’t get enough in your sack, all books in the store will be 15 percent off all day.

St. Marks Comics
11 St. Marks Pl between Second and Third Aves
Customers can pick up one free comic book, chosen at random from a box for added excitement, while browsing through a wide selection of comics of all sorts and for all ages.
