What’s the craziest outfit you’ve seen in your ’hood?
There’s this performance artist who stands on the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Broadway on the weekends, and he wears the most surprising things. He’ll wear a leotard or dress like a superhero. He’s very much his own person. It’s nice and super inspiring.

Vogue covered Brooklyn style last year, and Alexander Wang showed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Is high fashion becoming a bigger deal here?
I think it’s always been a big deal. But I think the Internet has given us a way to say, “Hey, we’re here!” I think before, everyone thought everyone in Manhattan was so glamorous. But real people live in Brooklyn.

Will more big-name designers follow Wang’s lead?
I think [Wang’s show] definitely raised Brooklyn’s profile. That location was a specific choice. It felt very much like they wanted an exclusive group to come to this exclusive show.
It wasn’t really accessible to anyone else, and maybe that was part of the point.

What are some spring trends you’re excited about?
I’m really excited to mix florals and stripes. It doesn’t sound super groundbreaking, but I want to mix all the patterns. I want to throw in some animal print in there, and I just want to get crazy.

What about something you’re dreading?
Shorts. I am so not a shorts person, specifically on me. I mean, some people take them a little too far. But there are some girls with such amazing legs, so more power to them.

And since you’re also a beauty blogger, what are some spring beauty trends?
I always love a bright lip. I think coming out of the fall, we all want to go soft and sweet. But a bright lip is the best way to say “Hi Spring, I’m here!”
