Jamie Franklin, 30; singer, actor, dancer, dreamer; East Village

His personal style: “Organic, funky, retro and fun. I am definitely not afraid of colors or prints or mixing them all up. I am not defined by labels, but by a feeling and energy. My style is very free-spirited and definitely fits into the groove of my mind, body and soul.”

His inspirations: “My style is definitely inspired by life and the life I’ve lived. From West Coast to East Coast, from vintage to preppy, I really do manage to incorporate it all. People who dare to rock what might not be 'hot’ to the masses really inspire me, and at the end of the day, they really keep fashion fun and not boring.”

Favorite stores: “I love Monk Thrift Shop in the East Village and never leave that store without an accessory or tee. I never fail at American Apparel or the Gap when I need basics or colors. H&M and Topman are my saviors for form-fitting guy pieces with some flare and the touch of Euro that I oh-so love. I pretty much love anything John Varvatos—I love that whole beat-up, worn, chic look.”

His signature accessories: “I love taking ties and literally cutting them and tying them extra small [to create] what has become known as my 'J-Ties.’ I also have a beautiful smoky topaz ring shaped as the heart of the ocean [of Titanic fame] that I wear every day in addition to a unique double-finger ring that resembles brass knuckles; however, I am a lover, not a fighter.”

Favorite designers: “Josana Blue (josanablue.com) is one of my best friends and is pretty much a jack of all trades. Her style is unique, colorful and sassy, and it turns visions into reality. Another local designer I’m into is a different friend of mine, Nicholas Kratochvil. His line, Bblessing (bblessing.com), is very well-traveled, hip, chic and reflective of the chill energy he gives to the world. My favorite local jewelry designer is this kind gent named Patanko, and he sells his beautiful work at a setup in front of the Apple Store on Prince Street. He and his wife travel and pick up amazing stones on their journeys, and he does the intricate band and setting like no one else.”

How he describes New York style: “Eclectic, bold, fresh and ever-changing. It can be so gritty while still having a unique chicness to round off the edges. I love New York.”

How his style has evolved throughout the past two decades: “It’s evolved into what Oprah would call 'my true authentic self.’ Growing up in Orange County, California, my style reflected a more chill, coastal, beachy look; landing in New York definitely upped my game and gave me a more diverse, unique way to have fun and experiment with my style.”
