Her style: "I went to art school so I can wear whatever I want."

Her inspirations: "I think I kind of dress the way a gay man dresses when he's trying to dress the way he thinks a woman might dress. I pick my fashion ensembles out like no one will be judging me. I dress to shock and awe, to inspire, and sometimes to amuse."

Favorite local stores: "I love Patricia Field because I could spend $10 or $100 there and leave with something amazing. Though I can't really afford to shop there on the daily, I love Ale et Ange, because he really cares about his clothing and makes everything by hand. Each item is a work of art, including the basement space which he transformed from a dank dungeon to a style palace. I love Trash & Vaudeville. They have a $9 shoe bin that will knock your socks off, and a great tights selection. I also like the punk-meets-pretty element of it. And though not a store, I love swaps, like Swap-O-Rama-Rama."

Favorite local designer: "Ale et Ange makes amazing clothing and shoes, and Lamia Akar (lamiadesign.com) makes terrific gloves. They are both nice, too, and they don't charge as much as they probably could. I also love House of Diehl (houseofdiehl.com) because they do the great Style Wars shows and really have fun with fashion."

The one item she can't live without: "Bad-ass tights. I have literally 50 different pairs in every color and pattern you can think of: sparkly, striped, plaid, fishnet..."

The greatest dressers of all time: "There are too many. Lady Di. Chaka Khan. Stevie Nicks. Cinderella. Santa Claus—what a get up! Me. You. We've all had our shining fashion moments, haven't we?"
