Linda Fargo, "Aries"; senior vice president, fashion office and store presentation, at Bergdorf Goodman (blog.bergdorfgoodman.com); Sutton Place

Her personal style: "I like clothing with a 'strength of character.' This can mean a lot of things, as I have a tremendously varied lifestyle, on top of a very eclectic self-image: super clean or strongly sculptural or exotic-dramatic, and definitely boldly accessorized. Even if I dress in an understated way, there needs to be something that speaks up about it. I don't like being invisible, but I don't have to shout either. The only rule that I live by is to care about what I wear, and make it count."

Her inspirations: "I love that moment of surprise and discovery, and things that are unexpected inspire me. Sometimes it can be a color, like emerald green for an interior, or camel suede or the long, crazy black goat fur we're seeing right now. I'm also inspired by other women—and the occasional man—who have the verve and nerve to be courageous and confident in their style choices. They encourage me to up my own ante and to do it without looking back in the mirror."

Favorite stores: "Bergdorf Goodman! I've worked and lived in this store for 14 years and every year I appreciate it more and more. I love that it's more than 100 years old, sits in the heart of New York and carries the most beautiful things you could wish for in the most elegant and exciting-looking space. I wish I could move into VBH! The scale of the space, the chic mix of '40s meets modern meets natural in finishes and details as refined and chic as the product it sells. You can barely pull me out of De Vera: the ultimate eclectic mix of totem, amulet, symbolic jewelry and objects. I want everything in there; it's a very spiritual place—a church of objects to lift your aura. Also, Mantiques Modern for the coolest brute chic vintage objects."

Her signature accessory: "My 'Linda' bag [named for Linda Fargo herself] by Nancy Gonzalez. She makes it in every color, it's sold exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman and I've never met a bag that can go anywhere, accommodate every carrying need and still look good!"

Favorite designers: "New York is one big neighborhood and the talent pool is huge here! I couldn't make a Sophie's choice."

How she describes New York style: "It's as varied and exceptional as its denizens. There is so much fantastic diversity that it makes for a wonderful medley of style, from polished panache to haphazard hipness. This isn't a one-note town and that's the beauty of it. Being a fashion capital makes New Yorkers among the first to embrace and create new waves of style."

How her style has evolved throughout the past two decades: "I certainly hope it's evolved! Especially given all these years in and around fashion and design, I would have no excuse. A constant since childhood has been a love of fantasy and costume dressing, but my average daily style has grown up."

Her distinguished 'do: "My hair started its color course when I was 10! The asymmetric bob is maybe five years old now and is always and only cut by Edward 'Scissorhands' Tricomi. It's probably time for a new 'do. P.S., I wore it in a bubble chignon or French twist for too many years to count! Yikes."
