Lauren Beene, 24, fashion publicist at HL Group (hlgrp.com); Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Her personal style: "A '20s siren trapped in Woodstock."

Her inspirations: "My mother's gorgeous photos from her stint in Mexico in her twenties."

Favorite stores: "AllSaints Spitalfields (locations throughout the city; visit us.allsaints.com for more info) is by far my favorite store; it has the best shoes and hottest dudes working. At Fishs Eddy (889 Broadway at 19th St, 212-420-9020), I feel an intense desire to become domesticated and buy plates and cooking accoutrements every time I pop in. Zara (locations throughout the city; visit zara.com for info) because it's cheap and work appropriate, and the sales can't be beat."

Favorite designers: "I adore Porter Grey (portergrey.com)—it's run by two sisters with impeccable style who are always so pulled together. Their spring collection has these feminine maxi skirts that are to die for."

Her signature item: "I love a deeply hued lip; it gives a sense of fun and sophistication without committing to a statement-making color. I use Sophisto, a MAC berry-tinted lipstick with a subtle shine. My personal trick to give my lip that deep hue and create a sense of depth and dimension is to use MAC's Beet lip pencil and draw inside the lip (to stain the lip) and then apply Sophisto on top."

How her style has evolved through the years: "Since moving to New York, my wardrobe has shifted to a darker palette, rather than the constant brights that defined my wardrobe in California."

All-time favorite NYC style icon: "I've always loved Jerry Hall—there's this image of her in an old British Vogue wearing a turban, a printed bikini and an oversize caftan...the quintessential summer dream."

Her fashion motto: "Dress up rather than down, and dress for chicks over dudes. But maybe that's why I'm single!"
