Out of nine tattoos Ordonez has, this mermaid one on his shoulder is his favorite. "I like mystical creatures," he notes. "I have a latex mermaid tail that my models wear when I photograph them to create my crazy art." He had the sun tattoo---his first ever---inked in San Francisco when he was 26 years old "to mark the beginning of a new life for me." Otherwise, Ordonez gets most of his body art done by Gypsy Nation at Fineline Tattoo (21 First Ave between 1st and 2nd Sts; 212-673-5154, finelinetattoo.com).

Rob Ordonez, 38, photographer and stylist (robertordonez.yolasite.com); Forest Hills, Queens

His personal style: "Edgy punk rocker."

His inspirations: "Freaks, skins and people that don't fit in with regular society."

Favorite stores: "Marc Jacobs (382 Bleecker St at Perry St, 212-929-0304 * 163 Mercer St between W Houston and Prince Sts, 212-343 1490 * marcjacobs.com) is so amazingly fabulous; his clothes drive me crazy! He is original, sexy and edgy. Patricia Field (302 Bowery between Bleecker and E Houston Sts; 212-966-4066, patriciafield.com) is definitely one of my favorites because her clothes are original and inspire you to be yourself. Nasty Pig (265A W 19th St between Seventh and Eighth Aves; 212-691-6067, nastypig.com) is a Chelsea store where gay men like myself can find sexy clothes that make us look rough, but with lots of sex appeal. Live Fast (57 Clinton St between Rivington and Stanton Sts; 917-447-4379, livefastnyc.com) is my favorite punk store—you'll find the craziest punk-rock clothes and accessories there."

His signature accessory: "I guess my leather bracelets. I own more than 20, and they empower my personality."

Favorite designers: "Marc Jacobs. I love his T-shirts and everything in his store. Geary Marcello (marcellogeary.yolasite.com) makes the best corsets and accessories. Scooter LaForge (scooterlaforge.com) creates amazing hats, T-shirts and underwear."

How he describes New York style: "It's interesting because there is such a big variety of people and cultures. Every day, someone will use the streets as a catwalk, looking fierce and showing style and elegance."

How his style has evolved through the years: "It went from conservative to bad boy to skinhead to punk rock."
