Most stylish New Yorkers: Tess Pare-Mayer

Pare-Mayer's frock is from the Lanvin for H&M line. "It's this gigantic vibrant red tulle tutu-style dress that I couldn't live without," she insists. "My best friend Craig actually waited in line at 7am in California to get it for me!" Her bright royal-blue heels are from Forever 21. "The color adds contrast and dimension to anything you wear it with, because I could never match something perfectly with that blue," she explains.

"It gets incredibly cold and snowy in NYC, so I figured I might as well have a little laugh and make people smile with my winter hat," she says of the animal-shaped topper, which she bought from a street vendor in Soho.

The chunky gold bracelets that Pare-Mayer has collected over the years are from various vintage and thrift stores. The smaller nameplate-style bracelet and double-ball bracelets are from her jewelry line (shopthelittleblacklist.blogspot.com), Seth and Dashiel Designs, named after her two older brothers.

"I love layering, so I always wear these two rings together," she says of the costume pieces she bought at Beacon's Closet (locations throughout the city; visit beaconscloset.com).

Pare-Mayer pairs an H&M tee with a Kolae skirt. "I love this skirt because it's effortlessly chic: You can throw it on with a sweater, or style it with grandma-style panties and a T-shirt and show serious skin," she explains.

"It's the exact cut of a motorcycle jacket and has intricate patches sewn all over it; it's one of my favorite pieces," she says of this vintage sequined number.

The butterfly and elephant necklaces are from Forever 21. "I like them because you can't pinpoint what decade, store or style they are supposed to represent. They almost look vintage, but they were, like, $6 each," Pare-Mayer admits.

"The reason I was drawn to these is the juxtaposition; the classic look of the boot in a rich dark-brown leather with the gunmetal chain on the heel. There is such minimal detailing, but they are updated and beautiful," she gushes about her Christian Louboutin boots.

Pare-Mayer admits to a serious obsession with kimonos, always wearing some variation of them while at home. "I have been searching for a legitimate kimono in a modern print that I can wear out and about as a dress, so when I came across this one at a vintage store I literally squealed so loud," she says. She ties the outfit together with a "perfectly beaten up" belt.

"They are surprisingly comfortable," she enthuses of her Miu Miu studded heels.

The vintage aficionado wears a Jones New York blazer (a score from Goodwill) with a vintage Chanel top and high-waisted shorts from H&M (locations throughout the city; visit hm.com).

A dramatic silver ring was purchased from a random street vendor in Astor Place, while the bracelet she pairs it with holds much more sentimental value. "The jade stone belonged to my father, and my mom sold her bike in the '70s to get the money to have the stone made into a cuff. It's a priceless, irreplaceable piece," she reflects.

The blogger totes an Alexander Wang Rocco duffel, which she likes because "it's not ostentatious."

"I don't typically shop at Steve Madden (locations throughout the city; visit stevemadden.com), but I saw these boots in the window and decided to take a peek in the store," recalls Pare-Mayer. "They were so cheap---I've definitely gotten my money's worth," she says.

Pare-Mayer sports a vintage coat she bought five years ago in her hometown of Napa, California. "It suits the weather in New York much better than California," she notes.

"The pants are actually little-boy trousers," she admits. "There's something about the cut that fit me perfectly as high-waisted ankle-length pants," she explains. To dress up the look, Pare-Mayer carries a luxe Sarah Hearey bag made from python and crocodile skins. "I love the contrast of different exotics on a simple silhouette, plus all the little birdie details are really interesting and fun," she enthuses.

Three different necklaces give the illusion of one when worn together. The diamond pendant was a gift from her mom, the rhinestone red lips remind Pare-Mayer of "the Rolling Stone lips," and a pocket-knife necklace from designer Erica Weiner rounds out the bunch.

Pare-Mayer accessorizes with a "silly, two-finger zebra ring---it's just something funny that makes me smile. Fashion shouldn't be so serious," she states.
