Hollywood actors, famous musicians and even reality stars have attempted to break into the fashion market, but not all are successful. We sifted through the new lines debuting for fall 2013 and found the ones worth checking out. Guys can stock up on affordable basics from Adam Levine’s line for Kmart, while ladies can buy blingy baubles from Ke$ha, glam ready-to-wear that won’t break the bank from Eva Mendes’s collection for New York & Company and trendy footwear from Leigh Lezark for Schutz.

Adam Levine for Kmart
The Maroon 5 lead singer may personify the unattainable bad boy, but his debut line for Kmart is designed for the guy next door. A mass-market chain might seem like an unlikely partner for Levine, however he explains he wanted his clothes to be essentials in a man’s closet. “It’s all about a classic T-shirt and a great-fitting jean,” he says. “Those are staples in my personal wardrobe and also what inspired me to create this collection.” Look for easy-to-wear apparel ($15–$70) and accessories ($10–$17) such as large-check flannel shirts ($25), striped shawl-collar cardigans ($40), distressed jeans ($30) and chunky knit scarves ($13–$16). The entire 110-piece collection will hit stores October 1, but visit shopyourway.com/adam for flash sales to snag select items early. Kmart, locations throughout the city; visit kmart.com
