Following a spate of collaborations with labels including Theory, Steven Alan and Wren, this made-in-L.A. accessories label opens its first NYC store. The designer’s handbags ($105–$699) and small leather goods ($75–$230) take center stage in the simple white boutique. Highlights include oversize clutches ($245–$275) that double as laptop cases, suede-lined iPad sleeves ($104–$110) and calf-hair totes ($429). The shop will also house a small assortment of hand-selected novelties from brands such as Annie Costello Brown, Maya Brenner and Reinhard Plank. Pick up Grace Lee leather wrap bracelets ($205) and Chateau Marmont floral and spice candles ($50). Browse the unique collection of magazines ($15–$45), including Vogue Paris, L’Officiel Hommes and Cherry Bomb, which pay homage to the designer’s roots. Monogramming is also available on most leather items for a flat fee of $50. 239 Elizabeth St between E Houston and Prince Sts (646-484-5757, clarevivier.com). Mon–Sat 11am–7pm, Sun noon–6pm.

Rent the Runway Showroom at Henri Bendel

  • Price band: 2/4

This popular e-tailer debuts a brick-and-mortar shop inside Henri Bendel. The 1,400-square-foot store allows customers to try on designer threads ($50–$450) and accessories ($15–$225) before they rent them for four or eight days. A four-day rental goes for 10 percent of the item’s retail price, while an eight-day rental costs 15 percent. As with the online service, you can mail your garment back in the pre-paid envelope without worrying about dry cleaning beforehand—it’s included in your rental. The rotating collections are organized thematically: Search the racks to find black-tie-worthy gowns and cocktail party frocks. Noteworthy items include Shoshanna floral minidresses (four days $65, eight days $104), Plein Sud metallic sheaths (four days $150, eight days $240) and Nicole Miller lace styles (four days $65, eight days $104). Complete your style with jewelry such as Kate Spade New York embellished cuff bracelets (four days $25, eight days $40) and Ben-Amun emerald earrings (four days $35, eight days $40). Be sure to take advantage of the in-house iPad to scan looks directly to your own online Virtual Closet on the company’s website. Create a look book and add notes to photos, making future rentals even easier. 712 Fifth Ave at 56th St, second floor (212-315-5917, renttherunway.com). Mon–Sat 10am–8pm, Sun noon–7pm.

Texas native Lyndsey Butler started her womenswear brand in 2007 with the intention of creating the perfect leather jacket for New Yorkers. Her popular toppers ($858–$1,650) have since sold in stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, and she’s even collaborated with Madewell. This is Butler’s second shop (the original on the Lower East Side closed in 2009), where you’ll also find house-label tops and dresses ($145–$450), as well as handbags ($175–$225) cut from the same Persian-rug fabric used to drape the store’s ceiling. Ease into the pricey leather looks by picking up bra tops ($145), leather leggings ($695) and jersey dresses ($285). 19 Mercer St between Grand and Howard Sts (212-219-8332, thisisveda.com).
