Time Out says
Sal’s Hairstyles, which closed in 2009 when its venerable neighborhood barber, Giorgio “Sal” Zocco, passed away, was an ode to a long-gone era, complete with a beautifully faded picture mural of the Italian coastline on the back wall. Now under new ownership, the space remains a barbershop called Persons of Interest, a revamped version of Sal’s that aspires to keep the charm of the old digs while bringing the space forward a few decades. Owner Steve Marks has hired a fleet of hip barbers, who will offer men’s haircuts ($40), traditional shaves ($30), beard trims ($15), buzz cuts ($25) and shaves ($30) to walk-ins only. If you’d rather pass the wait time running errands than flipping through magazines and sipping gratis Boylan seltzers, Cokes or beers, the staff will gladly jot your mobile number down and alert you when it’s your turn. Keep locks silky smooth between appointments with Italian natural-hair-care line Davines, which is both used and sold in the salon.
