At Janelle Fung’s concept-shop-cum-entrepreneurial incubator, 14” x 15” cubbies are rented out for $50–$260 per month to anyone with something to sell. If the vendor makes less than $500, he or she owes Fung a 3 percent commission; if the seller pulls in $500 or more, the commission is 10 percent. There are 140 boxes in all, stocking a crazy variety of goods: headphones; tights printed with stars, hearts and flowers; Cocomo cell phones from Japan; and gently used Christian Dior shoes, to name a few. Our faves include a Chanel patent-leather chain-strap bag for $1,600 (originally $2,300); local designer Dara Woon’s girly makeup bags with lace trim for $20 (usually $25); and Dora Chan’s heat-sensitive mood mugs for $16 (as opposed to $20). 360 Broome St between Elizabeth and Mott Sts (347-688-8639, shoppingboxny.com).
