Street style showdown: Park Slope

New York City’s style is undeniable, but which neighborhood is the most stylish? Fashion blogger and clothing designer Keiko Lynn Groves finds a dapper bartender, a trendy model and a stylish banker in a search to prove that Park Slope, Brooklyn, deserves the top honors.

Fans of Keiko Lynn Groves’s five-year-old fashion blog often note the clothing designer’s realness and relatability. “I give my readers a glimpse at my personal life through photographs,” she explains. “I post my general musings on whatever is happening at the moment.” Although designing clothing and accessories for her brand, Postlapsaria (postlapsaria.com/store), is her main focus, blogging has brought her opportunities such as serving as a style expert for CVS’s Beauty Club (locations throughout the city; visit cvs.com) and landing a Coach (coach.com) holiday campaign. Groves has lived in Park Slope for nearly four years, and appreciates the neighborhood’s casual sense of style. “I love that it’s quiet and feels removed from the city, but there’s still a lot going on,” she says. “There are pockets of exemplary personal style. It’s just a lot more laid-back.”

Groves favors this thrift store for unique threads that are arranged by decade. “The major bonus is that a tiny, very friendly Pomeranian will often greet you at the door,” she notes. “And everything is priced fairly, in comparison to most NYC vintage shops.”

Flirty dresses are the top seller at this quaint resale shop. “It’s always worth stopping in to see the new merchandise,” says Groves.

“I’m a big fan of the cheap mani-pedi combo,” says Groves of this low-key spot, which charges $26 for the service (normally $31) on Mondays through Wednesdays. “[The staff is] clean, efficient and very nice.”
