Lindsey Calla, 28, Saucy Glossie (saucyglossie.com), Upper West Side

When Lindsey Calla started her personal-style blog in 2009, it was truly a product of the recession: The former Cosmopolitan fashion assistant returned from a four-month stint living in Sydney to a down economy. “There were no jobs,” she recalls. “At the time, bloggers were focused on high-end labels such as Dolce & Gabbana and it was very aspirational, so I felt there was something missing in the budget space.” Indeed, her daily outfit posts featuring affordable garb resonate with her money-conscious readers, and her blog’s success has landed her gigs as a correspondent on the TBS show Trends with Benefits, a cohost on Marie Claire’s YouTube video series Fashion Mission and as a widely recognized face of T.J.Maxx’s Maxxinista campaign. Throughout it all, the New Jersey native has stayed loyal to the Upper West Side, where she’s lived for the past four years (minus her time spent abroad). “It feels a little more European than most places in the city,” says Calla, who often uses her brownstone-filled neighborhood as a backdrop for her shoots. “Downtown people try so hard to fit in, but up here, we’re just artsy and we don’t care. I think you get a lot of originality when people are comfortable with who they are.”

Calla’s favorite UWS shops and salons:

Club Monaco 211 Columbus Ave between 69th and 70th Sts (212-724-4076, clubmonaco.com)
“The [Upper West Side location] is really great because it exclusively carries women’s clothing, so it’s fully stocked,” says Calla.

Lovella 111 W 72nd St between Columbus and Amsterdam Aves (212-988-7766, lovellanyc.com)
Calla originally found this salon on the Upper East Side, where she once lived, before they opened a location on the Upper West Side. “I go there for blowouts; it’s really good,” she says.

Maxwax 167 W 74th St between Columbus and Amsterdam Aves (212-580-8040, maxwaxnyc.com)
The blogger frequents this salon for inexpensive waxing. “It’s good for when you need little things done here and there,” she notes.

Pinky Nail Salon 275 Amsterdam Ave at 73rd St (212-799-3889) • 2240 Broadway between 80th and 81st Sts (212-877-4992) • 312 Columbus Ave between 74th and 75th Sts (212-787-0390)
Calla cites Pinky as her favorite nail salon. “My nails look better when I get a manicure from them,” she says. “Plus, it’s just really cute in there.”

Purdy Girl 464 Columbus Ave between 82nd and 83rd Sts (212-787-1963, purdygirlnyc.com)
The bargain shopper loves this indie boutique for its affordable accessories. “It has a ton of jewelry that’s always 50 percent off,” she reveals.

Teddy 226 Columbus Ave between 70th and 71st Sts (212-875-0500, shopteddy.com)
“[This women’s clothing store] has a lot of really cute stuff from affordable labels such as BB Dakota (bbdakota.com),” enthuses Calla.
