While most people in their early twenties are busy honing their beer pong skills, brothers Marley and Lennon Ficalora are spending their youth expanding their retail business, opening their second skateboarding shop in Soho (it follows the success of their original Bridgehampton spot). Named after the Native American beads made from Long Island clams that were said to be America’s first currency, the store was custom-built with blond-wood walls and benches that feature iron-wrapped edges to make them skateable. Wampum stocks items from hard-to-find skate brands, including canvas jackets ($120) from Australian label TCSS, Sabre studded sunglasses ($120) and Herschel Supply Co. backpacks with leather buckles ($85). You’ll also find the house line of graphic tees ($40) designed by artist Charles Ly, Adidas skate shoes ($65–$75) and an array of skate decks, including store manager Nolan Lee’s graphic-inspired styles ($50).
