Apartment tour: 1BR in Williamsburg

Music-obsessed couple Jon and Rebekah Ambjor live in a Technicolor dream world.

  • You'd look as happy as the Ambjors too if you lived in an apartment this cute.

  • "This place was a disgusting institutional beige when we moved in," says Jon. "Rebekah repainted every room."

  • "The Beatles poster is just a big, oversized college poster in a really expensive frame," says Rebekah, who recommends Dryden Gallery & Custom Framing (129 Fourth Ave between 12th and 13th Sts, 212-420-1690).

  • The Ambjors often check out Target for cool surprises, like this midcentury-inspired sideboard.

  • The pair love music. Vinyl sits in bins on the floor by the record player, and the coffee-table displays books on the Flaming Lips and the Beatles.

  • This vintage couch was scored on Craigslist in Albany. The couple has found...

  • When it comes to decorating, Jon says Rebekah gives the final okay on everything---but there are a few items he's stood his ground on, including these R. Crumb pics. "They're just scans from a library book that we put in Ikea frames," he says.

  • A middle room without windows makes a cozy workstation for two with matching shelves and corkboards.

  • The Ambjors snagged this pew, formerly belonging to a Jewish synagogue, from a secondhand dealer in Dumbo.

  • The couple hosts a lot of boozy, vegetarian dinners and game nights in their apartment; backgammon gets especially heated.

  • They bought this hanging Tiffany-style lamp on eBay.

  • Rebekah, a Flaming Lips superfan, invited lead singer Wayne Coyne to her...

  • This space-saving built-in bookshelf is perfect for the narrow railroad-style bedroom arrangement.

  • In sharp contrast to the rest of the apartment, the powder room is a soft pink and decorated with personal touches, like a framed vintage print from Rebekah's hometown of Fargo, North Dakota.
