Hundley was determined to design her fantasy bedroom---one that was "as girly as possible." Taking advantage of the fact that she's not co-habitating, she decorated for her tastes and her tastes alone. Her vision required a good deal of pink. She's enjoying it while it lasts, much to her boyfriend's amusement.

An antique white dresser she inherited from her grandmother was the one piece of furniture Hundley brought from the South to New York---its shabby-chic, feminine style set the tone for the whole room, which Hundley refers to as "the Princess Palace."

"If every object has a home, it's easier to keep things tidy," says Hundley, who uses boxes and labels to stay streamlined. While her pad appears picture-perfect, Hundley admits, "My bedroom is a constant battle---the clothes usually win."

The cool hue of the living room's deep-blue walls serves as the background for what Hundley calls an "urban woodland" theme, complete with owl statuettes, branches and other nature-inspired details.

A fan of vinyl wall decals, Hundley asked Etsy vendor Willow Creek Signs to make her a custom quotation for her living-room wall.

The dining nook, whose high table and barstools are all from CB2 (cb2.com), is marked by a wall-mounted branch---Hundley refers to it as her "little piece of upstate." (She dragged it home from Croton-on-Hudson on the train.) It's entwined with candleholders, also from CB2.

"I don't know what they were thinking," says Hundley of the eclectic backsplash and countertops, which were installed when she moved in. However, Hundley learned to love their quirkiness, "I lived in this perfect high-rise. Then I came here, and it's Mexican tile and fake stone; in a way, it seemed more like a place I would actually live... I'm not a granite and stainless steel sort of person."

Photos and trinkets from Hundley's travels are displayed throughout the apartment. The ceramic bird figurine on the living room side table, purchased at Crate & Barrel (crateandbarrel.com), was the first bird in Hundley's ever-growing collection of avian decorations.

The blue Yamaha acoustic guitar was a gift from Hundley's father. "Every dinner party ends with a sing-along," she says with a laugh.

To solve her kitchen storage problem, Hundley invested in a supplemental unit from JCPenney that holds her baking and cooking ware.

While Hundley will have to repaint her walls when she moves, she says the effort is worth it. "People are so transient," she sighs. "They don't understand that were you live is a home."
