"My store houses my inspiration," says Tarr. "It allows me to collect things," she says. Tarr rescued her industrial wheeled table, once used in an old metal factory, from home-furnishings store Olde Good Things (ogtstore.com). She dresses it up with a vase of fresh-cut flowers from Saipua.

"I have a respect for old things and the quality with which they were made," Tarr says. She regularly scouts furniture, clothing, artwork and jewelry at the Antiques Garage (hellskitchenfleamarket.com), including the hairnet advertising display next to Tarr's bathtub and the majority of her dresses.

The Brooklyn Flea (brooklynflea.com) is one of Tarr's go-to spots, and where she recently found collapsible shelves once used in a general store and which now hold dry goods in her kitchen.

The designer does much of her thrifting out of state at Recycling the Past (recyclingthepast.com), a family-owned architectural antiques dealer in southern New Jersey, and at the Brimfield Antique Show (brimfieldshow.com) in western Massachusetts. That's where she picks up unique items like the 1960s cast-iron rocking spring-bouncer horse displayed on her balcony.

The antique wooden ironing board turned dining room table was purchased at Moon River Chattel (moonriverchattel.com), a mercantile store in Williamsburg.

General & Fine's vintage display cases from Moon River Chattel, reminiscent of hardware-store cabinets from the early 1900s, are filled with handmade soaps from Saipua (saipua.com) and old-fashioned treats from Nostalgic Candy (nostalgiccandy.com).
