Apartments under $2,000: Bushwick

2BR, $1,600
237 Jefferson Ave between Knickerbocker and Wilson Aves
Included: Roof access
Broker’s fee: None
To move in: First month’s rent, one-month security
The apartment: This newly renovated walk-up is adorned with hardwood floors, stainless-steel kitchen appliances, fancy light fixtures and French doors on the bedrooms. There’s also a thermostat in the kitchen, allowing the tenant to control the heat. I liked the layout of the space as a whole: It has one bedroom at either end, with a window in each. Unfortunately, neither of the bedrooms could fit anything larger than a full bed and a dresser, and the building itself, not to mention the backyard, are run-down.
