One Stop Framing Shop

Artful Posters
This 35-year-old Village shop offers 400 different types of frames, including basic wood, metal, flat silver and black matte—but don’t be surprised if you walk out with a poster, too. (The knockout selection includes vintage absinthe ads, Cab Calloway at the Cotton Club [1931], even Annie Hall.) Custom services start at $75. 194 Bleecker St between Downing and MacDougal Sts (212-473-1747, artfulpostersnyc.com)

Make a Frame
This Brooklyn staple has been plugging along for 31 years—mostly on word-of-mouth advertising. “Just ask your neighbor where to go for framing—they’ll tell ya,” says owner Tom Shoemaker. “We get everyone from little Hispanic grandmothers to yuppies from the Heights.” Frame pricing is dependent on the size and materials used, but generally ranges from $7 to $160 a foot. And don’t forget the glass options, including UV-light-blocking glass ($30 for an 11"-by-14" frame) and nonglare glass ($20 for 11"-by-14"). 180 Atlantic Ave between Clinton and Court Sts, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn (718-875-6150, makeaframebrooklyn.com)

Metro Art and Frame
This 15-year-old store is one part gallery, one part frame shop. Frames are available in metals, woods and 24-karat gold leaf. “We don’t go searching for excuses if a customer is unhappy,” says manager Alex Muminov. “If someone complains, we’ll replace anything until they’re satisfied, free of charge.” Basic frames start at $10, and hand-painted frames made from raw wood start at $25. 585 W 235th St at Netherland Ave, Bronx (718-432-0632, framart.com)

One Stop Framing Shop
In addition to custom framing, this all-in-one spot offers great deals on laminations, dry mounting and digital printing. “We deal with our customers like friends,” says manager Shams Rehmen. “People come from out of state for our services, and we do our best to make it worth their time.” They’ll even whip up a same-day frame for no extra cost. The framing selection, imported primarily from Italy and Indonesia, varies in price, but a standard 32"-by-40" ranges from $190 to $260. Oversize jobs (40"-by-60" and up) start at $300. 269 W 36th St between Seventh and Eighth Aves (212-869-7040, 1stopframingshop.com)

Sam’s Art & Framing Inc.
Same-day framing, custom orders and shadow boxes are all par for the course at this Flushing framer. Choose from 5,000 ready-made frames in decorative styles, already mounted and displayed on the walls, and starting at $40 for a simple 20"-by-20" black frame. Gold frames cost up to $2,500. 143-18 45th Ave at Bowne St, Flushing, Queens (718-445-3980, samsartandframing.com)
