Affectionately known as CSV, the sprawling former school houses a staggering number of theaters, studios and offices, which have collectively functioned since 1993 as a gathering point for Latino culture. However, the two main theaters—the Flamboyan and the Milagro—and many of the artists who operate out of the building are non-Hispanic, drawn by the welcoming atmosphere (like the café in the lobby) and the large, high-ceilinged spaces.
