Just think, when the first Westminster dog show happened in 1877, Mark Twain was comfortably middle-aged, the Model T was still 30 years away, and Puppy Bowl was but a futurist fever dream. While these breeds have probably not become less inbred over that time, there’s still something to be said for keeping alive one of the oldest sporting traditions in America, behind only to the Kentucky Derby. For the second year in a row, the dog show will take place in two locations: Piers 92/94, where the public can get up close and personal with the breeds, as well as MSG, where the Best in Show will be crowned.
