In this fantasy-meets-fitness experience, creator and experimental artist Scott Wayne Indiana narrates the classic fantasy game while yogi Sarah Dahnke instructs the class, which is donation-based. She's created new poses like "flipping a switch," "sword one" and "dice rolling"—one way to mix up your regular downward dog and plank routine. And since role-playing wouldn’t be true to its name if it didn’t involve a little improv, Dahnke has no problem making up relevant yoga poses if she feels so inspired by the story being told.
Indiana's concept isn’t a push to get fantasy devotees to improve their flexibility or introduce yogis to the world of D&D. According to Brooklyn Paper, he wanted to bring a guided narrative to yoga practice, and was intrigued by the idea of bringing two very different communities together. So if you’re looking to get your Dungeons & Dragons on while sweating it out at the same time, LaunchPad’s next offering of D&D Yoga is obviously where you need to be. That's March 22 at 11am (suggested donation $5; firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your spot).
