Gowanus just got a lot more literary, thanks to Ugly Duckling Presse's new pop-up bookstore. Dubbed Third Factory for its location on the first floor of the Old American Can Factory, the outlet showcases titles from the nonprofit publisher as well as other small presses with offices in the same building, including Archipelago, Akashic, Swayspace and Belladonna*. The temporary store is open through the month of February.
UDP's short-term venture is also hosting workshops, poetry readings, performances, and weekday residencies from local artists Woody Leslie and Sarah Anne Wallen. But wait, there’s more. Lucky for shoppers, they can watch books be bound by the publisher's volunteers every Saturday for Presse Day.
