Albert Oehlen, "Fabric Paintings"

Oehlen studied with Sigmar Polke, and it shows in these canvases from the 1990s, which were stitched together out of a variety of colorful store-bought fabrics and limned with gestural flourishes, as well as with shapes evoking figural forms.
