This week, we brought you a ton of in-the-know alternatives to tourist traps. We also checked in with notable New Yorkers, such as stylish Project Runway star Fabio Costa, about where they go to wow their guests. For more cool spots in Costa’s ’hood, check out our day-in-Bushwick guide.
Fabio Costa, 30, fashion designer and Project Runway season ten finalist
“I had a friend visiting, and it took us about 40 minutes to walk four blocks in Times Square. After that—he was ecstatic—he wanted to go to Rockefeller Center, and I was like, ‘No, we’re getting a drink.’ There are places that are really unusual where I live, Bushwick, Brooklyn. Gotham City Lounge is the like divey-est place you’ll ever see. It’s a comic-book-themed bar with a pool table and an arcade machine, and I think it’s $3 for a beer and a shot.”
Costa is the cofounder of the fashion line NotEqual.
