The Bell House, Gowanus Saturday December 8 2012 20:00
Literary social group the Desk Set’s bookish bash wouldn’t be welcome at any library—it’s far too loud. The philanthropic librarians and their like-minded friends fill the Bell House’s stage with dozens of performers and DJs. Donate a book to score a free raffle ticket, but the real prize comes when a lucky word-lover is crowned Postmaster General. Prom-style photos make the event feel like the acne-free school dance you never had, and proceeds go to the nonprofit Literacy for Incarcerated Teens.
