Yesterday was a big day for fans of HBO's TV shows—and when we say big, we don't necessarily mean good, depending on your favorite programs. Let's run 'em down, shall we?
First, we begin with gangsters: HBO announced that Boardwalk Empire's fifth season would premiere sometime this year. But don't get too excited—this season will be the show's last. Terence Winter, the series's creator, told Entertainment Weekly, "We’ve decided to wrap up the series after such a great run, and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion."
On to Game of Thrones: The fantasy series will return for a fourth season on Sunday, April 6; for fans who can't possibly wait until then, rumor has it that HBO will be releasing a trailer this Sunday.
Speaking of Sunday, the third season of Girls will also premiere that day, and HBO recently ordered a fourth season of the show. HBO announced the news at the Television Critics Association conference held this week in Pasadena, California. That's a lot of news in one day, some of it heartbreaking and some of it exciting. It'll be okay—just remember to take a breather and set your DVRs now.
