Battlestar Galactica: Billy is rolling over in his space grave

    Tue Feb 24

Ron Moore would follow Adama to the gates of hell and back. So would we. Mmmmmm, dude. On the cool index, this lies somewhere between global warming and Ol' B Face. Yes, I speak of the rumored Battlestar Galactica film that is based on (wait for it) the crappy old show and not the new great one. Let me be the first to say that if it doesn't star Edward James Olmos and feature the comic stylings and delightfully promiscuous behavior of Gaius Baltar, then I am not interested. A brief segue: Did you know that you can make a drinking game out of Baltar scoring with chicks on the show? Yes, try it. By the end of season one, you'll be properly Baltarded. I rest my case.

Tonight's Last-Minute Plan: Watch clowns shoot guns (it's satire)

    Tue Feb 24

It's your choice tonight as the "Film Comment Selects" series at the Walter Reade Theater shows two of our seven picks of the festival, one after another, on the same night. Catch clowns shooting semiautomatics and Jewfros at 6:15pm in The Third Generation, a satire of radical-chic extremism that the kids at Take Back NYU may want to check out. Or at 8:30pm, the deliciously severe and dark revenge thriller Revanche. Of course, you could just see both.

    Watch Out: Privileged information

    Tue Feb 24

TONIGHT: Privileged (9pm on the CW) What started as just another Gossip Girl rip-off—based on a book called How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls—has quietly become the CW's sweetest little secret. Tonight's finale wraps up the first season, which began when brainiac Megan (JoAnna Garcia) moved to Palm Beach to tutor a cosmetics magnate's twin granddaughters. Thankfully the teenage pair are snotty only on the surface, and beneath the show's orgy of minidresses are gentle human plotlines—like Megan constantly reevaluating her caretaker role in her own dysfunctional family. Despite the dishy love interests and stereotypical gay confidante, it's a true ladies' show in the vein of the dearly departed Gilmore Girls. Read TONY's peek at Privileged here. More TV
