"No fist fighting!!" at the Barneys warehouse sale
Fri Feb 13
You know you're officially at a great sale when they have to post signs that read "No Fist Fighting!!" Such was the case at the Barneys warehouse sale—I only wish they would have mentioned "no elbowing or pushing" because there were some overzealous deal-seekers roaming the shoe department. (By the way, shoes were not that cheap—most were around $300!) Was it worth waking up at 6:30am and being pummeled by agro fashion hounds? You betcha! I scored two DVF cocktail dresses and a Theory dress, all for only $322. The sale continues through March 1, and the cashier told me that they replenish stock every other day—so don't worry, you still have time to score some discounted duds. I hope you're not shy, though, because there are no changing rooms. So you have to suck it up and drop trou in the middle of the warehouse, while fighting for the mirror. It's like a Vanessa Beecroft installation come to life. Barneys warehouse sale, 255 W 17th St between Seventh and Eighth Aves (212-450-8400)....
Material Girl: Not "over" after all?
Fri Feb 13
If I hear another fickle fag of a friend tell me he's "so over Madonna," I'm going to cry. Maybe they'll reconsider after today's nude-photo news. (Warning! NSFW!)
It seems that this shot of Ms. Ciccone, taken by Lee Friedlander, was sold to an anonymous buyer at a Christie's Art House auction for $37,500.
In this economy! And when it was estimated to go for only $10,000 to $15,000!
Sure, okay, it's from 1979. But something tells me that a nude photo of Madonna from 2009 would go for even more.
I'm just sayin'.

You Fell Asleep Watching a DVD: How did they know?
Fri Feb 13
What's the word? Uncanny? Yeah, that's it. You Fell Asleep Watching a DVD is at once completely useless, totally entertaining and, well, what I do most nights (especially if Arrested Development is selected from the menu). I love that someone took the time to build this thing.
Watch Out: Playing with Dollhouse
Fri Feb 13
TONIGHT: Dollhouse (9pm on Fox)
Echo (Eliza Dushku) is a doll. Not in a darling Guys and Dolls kind of way; she's a blank slate to be programmed with a personality. Rich folks hire her to be an employee or temporary girlfriend, and the Dollhouse delivers—then erases her memory when the client's time is up. Dollhouse is from the brain of Buffy-man Joss Whedon, so why isn't it better? Read our review.
And wait a sec, is Dollhouse really a hooker show in disguise? See what Whedon told us here.
