Jill Scott's Block Party tour hit Jones Beach last night—and while the schlep-tastic seaside venue is about as far as possible from an actual Brooklyn block, guest DJ, beat-boxer and charmer-in-general Doug E. Fresh brought the vibe, emceeing over a crowd-pleasing selection of party classics provided by Jazzy Jeff. Veteran rapper Biz Markie even put in an appearance, gleefully hollering a snatch of "Just a Friend," and smooth support featured Anthony Hamilton.
Scott herself provided star quality, taking the stage (really, taking it) in a glittering blue sequin minidress, revealing belief-beggaringly awesome cleavage. The singer mixed classic hits with cuts from her new disc, The Light of the Sun, and was backed by a back-flipping break-dancer and three bow-tie-wearing gents on backing vocals.
