It's Memorial Day weekend! Yay! We're sure that you've already consulted our handy guide of things to do over the holiday, which should meet all of your drinking, eating and partying needs for the next three days. Our plan? We're heading out to Governors Island this weekend to take in all of the cool stuff on view—check out these photos from Friday, the island's opening day for its 2011 season, which feature Figment's new Burble Bup Pavilion (possibly still under construction) and its 14-hole, insect-themed minigolf course. Good times.

The Huevos Rancheros ($7.95) with a choice of eggs any style or tofu scramble gathers all the food groups on one plate, and is delicious to boot. Next, walk ten minutes to the 16th Annual Lower East Side Festival for the Arts (free), a celebration of the LES's creative talent. Check out the street festival on East 10th Street before heading into the Theater for the New City for films and performances. Afterward, walk another ten minutes to the soon-to-be-shuttered Mars Bar. The legendary dive bar will apparently reopen once planned construction on the site is completed, but you had better have an extra beer just in case (two beers $10). When you're nice and loose, skip next door to Anthology Film Archives and settle in for Migrating Forms ($10), a spin-off of the now defunct New York Underground Film Festival. There are...
