It's home to the National Circus School, has a whole festival that revolves around the circus, and is where the greatest circus troupe in the world, Cirque du Soleil, got started.
The latest Cirque du Soleil show, TOTEM is going to be amazing. How do we know? It covers the entire evolution of the human species in one of the most amazing eye-popping air and brain defying acrobatic extravaganzas that Cirque has ever done. My brother and I were totally going to be in the show but they cut us after they found out that we can't actually fly that well. Which is true, but...

On April 30, the Brown Girls Burlesque troupe took control of Bowery Poetry Club for a show named Raunch and Revolution. As you might expect from the title, the presentation was politically charged, exploring themes of race, gender, imperialism, environmental issues and more. Oh, yeah—there were lots of women taking off their clothes as well. And here are the pictures to prove it! (Photographs: Syd London)

In this gorgeous weather, we're down for doing almost anything outside—especially, say, boozing and catching an outdoor gig or screening. Tonight, Rooftop Films offers all three with its "Dark Toons" series, which promises freaky animated shorts, a live show by poppy electro outfit Silver Swans (8:30pm) and a postscreening shindig fueled by gratis pours of Radberger Pilsner.
