For five weekends this winter, a 40,000-square-foot Billyburg warehouse will be converted into an after-dark market, packed with more than 200 artists, vendors, chefs, musicians and DJs. Check out a host of indie crafters and artisans who will be hawking designer fashion, accessories, homewares and artwork. Browse local faves such as Greenpoint’s Dalaga boutique and Williamsburg vintage shop Antoinette, and be on the lookout for body chains from edgy jewelers CanDid Art Accessories, luxurious and slightly androgynous leather goods by Jack Germain, and one-of-a-kind Docksmith iPod and iPhone docks made from gnarled, reclaimed wood. Tastemaking outlets such as Fader, Hype Machine and Impose have been tapped to curate the nightly entertainment. Headliners include TV on the Radio guitarist Kyp Malone (Nov 23), synth-pop duo French Horn Rebellion (Nov 24), shoegazing popsters Pains of Being Pure at Heart (Dec 14), avant-noise vets Black Dice (Dec 15) and danceable agit-pop band MEN (Dec 21). The bazaar is also strong on the dining front, with Kings County restaurants (Le Comptoir, Pok Pok NY) representing alongside familiar names from the festival and market circuit (Brooklyn Taco, Wooly’s Ice). Take the opportunity to support local producers like Eagle Street Rooftop Farm, then hit the likes of Brooklyn Winery, Oskar Blues, Sierra Nevada, Blue Point and Sixpoint Craft Ales, which are cosponsoring the event, along with Edible Brooklyn.
