Crime in Greenpoint leads to a community meeting, plus safety tips
A town-hall meeting has been announced in response to the recent violent and sexual attacks in Greenpoint and Williamsburg.

After the wave of violent crimes early this week in Greenpoint, residents of the North Brooklyn 'hood are understandable feeling a bit freaked out. (Weirdly enough, a recent study shows that people perceive Greenpoint to be one of the least safe areas in Brooklyn, based on images taken from Google Maps.)
Greenpointers has kindly put together a list of street safety tips; you should check that out here, no matter where you live. The local rag also announced a Meeting on Crime on Monday, August 19. The town-hall gathering will be held at Church of the Ascension (127 Kent St between Franklin St and Manhattan Ave) at 6:30pm, and Neighborhood Watch and local cops will be on hand to discuss the recent spike in crime in the neighborhood.
