Daft Punk, Imagine Dragons top Spotify's year-end data for NYC users

We got the scoop from Spotify on what each borough listened to this year—and the results were dismayingly non-diverse

Last month, we shared the most popular tracks streamed by New Yorkers on Spotify in October, and the borough-by-borough diversity was truly amazing. Staten Islanders jammed out to Top 40 tunes, Queens residents listened to a melting pot of genres (naturally), Bronx denizens played Latin pop hits, Manhattanites streamed the most vanilla songs and Brooklyn's selection was filled with oh-so-hip tracks by Arcade Fire and Lorde.

Now that the year's coming to an end, we wanted to see if that diversity carried over on a larger scale. But after checking out Spotify's year-end streaming data, we have to conclude that New York's users of the streaming service are actually all pretty similar—and they're not so different from users around the country or the world.

We've listed the most frequently streamed songs of 2013 by borough, but if you wanted to save yourself the time, the findings could be depicted in one simple graphic (above). Daft Punk's summer mega-hit "Get Lucky" was the no. 1 streamed song everywhere—except Staten Island, the residents of which preferred Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive." Other chart dominators: Macklemore, Drake and, of course, "Blurred Lines."
