Saint Paulinus hailed from Nola in Southern Italy, but Williamsburg’s Italian community adopted him as a native son long ago, with a 12-day festival full of prayer, music, food and pageantry in his honor. The high point is the legendary lifting of the giglio (Sun 14 at 1pm), when dozens of men march a three-ton, 80-foot papier-mâché tower through Havemeyer Street as onlookers cheer and chant the traditional “O’ Giglio e Paradiso.” Later, everyone snacks on cannoli, Italian ices and zeppole, and enjoys live music and carnival rides.
