If you needed an incentive to start using NYC taxi-hailing app Uber, the company has just given you a pretty good one: Uber partnered with a bunch of Brooklyn businesses on discounts and deals, good for this weekend only, for anyone who uses its uberX option. Plus you get free rides. Pretty cool, right
The rules are pretty simple: All you have to do is arrange a ride in Brooklyn through UberX, beginning at noon on Friday, August 23, and ending at 11:59pm on Sunday, August 25. (You can arrange up to two rides throughout the whole weekend.) Uber will cover the cost up to $20 for each ride. And if you want to get some crazy deals at spots like Pork Slope, Videology, BrisketTown, King & Grove or SoulCycle, you just need to arrange a ride that ends in Brooklyn, hold on to your receipt and show it at a participating vendor. (The full list, along with the fine print of the deal, is on Uber's blog.)
The catch: The discounts are only good for one person, so if you're hoping to get a group of friends together for a free drink, you're out of luck. (Though some spots, like Greenwood Park and Banter, are offering two-for-one drink deals.) But still—free stuff! Free transportation! We're not going to complain too much.
