Giuseppe Penone, Ideas of Stone

This installation consists of three 40-foot-tall bronze sculptures, molded to resemble trees by Italian artist Giuseppe Penone. Interested in the relationship between gravity and light, Penone suspends large river stones atop the arboreal branches, occupying a space that is neither land nor air.
