Hawaiian Barbecue: Time Out Offers deal of the week
Grab tickets to a whole-hog roast with bottomless libations and more at Roberta's.
Fri Aug 2 2013
Hawaiian flavors head to the mainland for this second annual fund-raiser on August 11, celebrating Roberta's nonprofit radio station. Pitmaster Daniel Delaney (BrisketTown) slow-cooks a heritage swine kahlua-style (in a makeshift outdoor oven), accompanied by fried rice with maple-cured smoked ham from Chris Bradley (Untitled), tuna poke from Greenpoint Fish & Lobster Co. and pineapple-ham pizzas from Roberta's. La Newyorkina caps the Polynesian-inspired feast with tropical ice pops (coconut, papaya-passion). Work up the courage to bid at the night's food-inspired art auction—featuring pieces by Margarita Korol and Erin Jang—with Empire Brewing Company suds and Anfora's tequila cocktails. Global dance beats spun by DJ Reaganomics and an acoustic performance from songstress Odetta Hartman will keep the island bash raging until it's time to say a hui hou ("until we meet again").
