Take a look at the slide show above. A good, long look. Nonprofit Coney Island USA annually puts on the free Coney Island Mermaid Parade, a massive undertaking that is usually funded by proceeds from their bar, museum and performance venue, but as we reported earlier this year, the space was decimated and will only reopen later in May.

As a consequence, Coney Island USA is short on funds and has taken to Kickstarter to raise $100,000 by June 3. Seems like a lot, but consider that last year, about 750,000 people attended! A measly buck from everyone, and this thing is back on.

Donate at this Kickstarter page.

But hey, we bet you can spare more than a dollar, and if you do, there's sweet merch to be had. Check out the slide show below of the rewards currently on offer.
