Welling Court Mural Project 2013

For the past three years, Ad Hoc Art—which helps promote and support street artists, illustrators and other creators working outside the traditional art scene—has staged a massive outdoor art installation in Queens. The project has grown immensely in the past few years: When it started in 2010, the Welling Court Mural Project featured the work of more than 30 artists, on the walls along Welling Court in Astoria; the current iteration, which opened on June 15, includes pieces by more than 80 artists.

But coordinating a huge street-art exhibit isn't easy, and to help offset costs and fund the project in 2014, Ad Hoc started an Indiegogo campaign—contributions will go toward procuring materials, paying volunteers and offering a stipend to artists whose work is featured. With just three days left until the campaign ends, the group is still well away from its $19,000 goal—but you can help! There are plenty of cool rewards being offered, including personalized murals and original pieces of art; if any of the works in the slide show above appeal to you—or if you want to help keep cool indie art projects in NYC—you might consider contributing.
