I first got nude at the beach about 20 years ago. I would wear my bathing suit, then pull my suit down a little to expose my derriere. Then I thought, Well, maybe I’ll just hang out by the blanket, and then, Maybe I’ll just go down to the water. Finally, I had the guts to go totally nude.

My friends now know, but for years I kept it a secret. I would go to the beach and I wouldn’t talk to anyone. After a while, I started seeing the same people, and eventually making conversation with them. They invited me to join the club. So, after nearly 20 years of being completely private about being natural, as a member of the club for the past three years, I’ve become more vocal about it.

I’m not comfortable with my job knowing. People associate nudism with sex. I wouldn’t want to lose my job over it. My wife thinks I’m nuts, but she tolerates it. She has the average perception— that it’s sexual or wrong. It’s just more comfortable for me. I’m not out there to change the world. I go to the beach and get undressed, I go to parties and get naked, but I don’t do it outside the club’s functions. As someone once told me, “It’s easier to make friends of your nudists than nudists of your friends.”?
