The reliably brilliant Joel and Ethan Coen take on '60s folk music in their newest drama, Inside Llewyn Davis. The Cannes fave follows a guitar- and cat-toting singer (Oscar Isaac) through Greenwich Village in search of fame, or maybe just enough to pay the bills. Along the way, he unintentionally comes between a marital musical duo played by Carey Mulligan and Justin Timberlake. He also earns a sneering rebuke from John Goodman.
