Last-minute plan: Catch Screaming Females on The Chris Gethard Show tonight

Allow us to rant for a moment: One of our favorite records of 2012 was Ugly, by New Jersey punks Screaming Females, and yet it got very little recognition on the many (many, many) year-end best-of lists that circulated in December. (Even TONY's music critics neglected the album in their best of 2012 lists. Boo.) So we implore you: If you're not familiar with the Steve Albini–produced album, which came out in April, give it a listen; it's more melodic than the band's past efforts, while retaining the explosive, ferocious quality that makes them so great. (We daresay that singer-guitarist Marissa Paternoster is one of most interesting singers or guitarists out there right now.)
All of this is to say that you should really check out tonight's installment of The Chris Gethard Show, which will feature a performance by Screaming Females. Fellow Jerseyite Gethard's quasi–talk show, which also airs on Manhattan public-access TV and streams on the show's website, is bizarre, heartfelt and wonderfully weird; we guarantee you won't have another night like this anywhere else.
