The House of Vans in Greenpoint has been a shining example of the bright side of corporate sponsorship for a few years now, featuring free live music (great!), as well as free alcohol (even greater!), during its summertime Vans House Parties series.
That same spirit of corporate benevolence returns for a one-off event tomorrow night (Thursday, October 24), celebrating the 20th anniversary of Vans’ snowboarding line. Garage-rock royal King Tuff (that's Kyle Thomas to his buds) will offer up the supremely catchy glam power-pop that's earned him a cultish following, and snowboarder-musicians Jamie Lynn and Zac Marben are also on the bill.
The event and booze are both free, provided you send an R.S.V.P. firstname.lastname@example.org">e-mail with "Anniversary" in the subject line. Doors open at 7pm, and be warned—admission is based on capacity, so arrive early.
