Though we're crushed (and slightly embarrassed) that a cat café will not be opening in Williamsburg after all, its substitute isn't so bad: The Newsroom—an interactive venue from hyper-local blog Bedford + Bowery to host Q&As, performances and the like—is launching tonight. Its inaugural event is a screening of Captured, a film by controversial documentarian Clayton Patterson about the gritty Lower East Side and East Village of the '80s and '90s. The man himself will be on hand tonight to discuss his doc.
Another reason to stop by the space this evening is the unveiling of local artist Rostarr's new mural, which takes up an entire wall. Check out the embedded GIF below for a preview of his work. The Newsroom is located at 155 Grand Street between Bedford and Berry Streets in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and you can R.S.V.P. on Facebook. Tonight's screening is free and starts at 7pm.
